Saguaro The Saguaro is unique to Arizona and southern California. The Saguaro is very slow growing and takes up to 75 years
before adding an arm.

The Red Door Adobe bricks are made from the dirt, sand and straw of
the southwest. This hacienda built of adobe bricks is over 200 years old. The turquoise trim is typical of the architecture. The bright red
door is welcoming to the weary traveler.

Yucca While the Saguaro is representative of Arizona the Yucca is the state flower of New Mexico. It is sometimes
called a soap weed. The Yucca is pollinated by the yucca moth.

Chamisa Steps The Chamisa plant blooms in late summer in New Mexico and is a harbinger of fall. It is sometimes
called "Rabbitbush". The purple aster blooms at the same time. The combination of the yellow and purple is beautiful.

Barrel Cactus Located in the Arizona desert this little Barrel cactus was in full bloom in the spring. This is
a very slow growing cactus and was used by the Native Americans for food and water They made fish hooks from the spines.
