About the Artist
janice.jpg

As a native of New Mexico I have always loved being outside. Since childhood I have had a great respect for this land of great beauty and spiritual renewal.

In 1994 I began entering juried exhibitions and winning awards. I have studied with Doug Dawson, Kim English, Ted Goeshner and Albert Handell.

I am a signature member of the Women Artists of the West, the Pastel Society of the West Coast, the Pastel Society of New Mexico and the Pastel Society of Colorado. I am an associate member of the Oil Painters of America.

In 2007 I had an image selected for publication in the Jack Richeson book Plein Air New Mexico. I have also been published in The Pastel Journal top 100 twice where I took a 2nd Place and an Award of Merit.

Muir's paintings hang in many private, corporate and governmental collections.

She now teaches her own workshops through her studio.
